This postgraduate program builds upon the legacy and experience of the long-established MSc in “Optics and Vision” and emerges as a dynamic evolution designed to meet the scientific and technological challenges of the 21st century. It brings together a diverse group of academic departments – the School of Medicine, the Department of Materials Science and Technology, and the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics – to offer an interdisciplinary, research-oriented, and internationally competitive curriculum.
The human visual system is a unique and highly complex interface between physics, biology, medicine, and cognitive science. Understanding its function and disorders requires a multifaceted approach that combines knowledge from fields such as neuroscience, ophthalmology, optics, imaging technology, applied mathematics, materials science, and biotechnology. Our program reflects precisely this spirit of interdisciplinary synergy.
The program is designed for students interested in the clinical, research, or technological aspects of vision sciences. It combines expertise from Medicine, Materials Science and Technology, and Mathematics, preparing graduates for careers in academia, industry, or healthcare.
