One year after its inaugural educational event at the European Cultural Centre of Delphi (https://studyingreece.edu.gr/the-seeds-of-virtue-in-ancient-greece-and-china/), the KELKIP (Center of Greek and Chinese Ancient Civilizations) is relocating its summer school program to Crete.
It will host two groups of fifty-three students from universities in China. The program, taking place in Athens, Rethymno, Anogeia, Heraklion, and Chania from July 10th to 31st. (https://www.uoc.gr/announce/summerschool.html), aims to introduce participants to the rich history and contemporary culture of Crete, as well as to the philosophical tradition that connects Plato’s utopian Laws with the island’s iconic archaeological sites.
The summer school is organized by the School of Philosophy at the University of Crete, in collaboration with the Institute for Mediterranean Studies/FORTH, with support from the staff of the Schools of Social Sciences and Education, as well as the Archaeological Museums of Heraklion and Rethymno, and the Historical Museum of Crete.
As part of this initiative, on Wednesday, July 24th at 21:00, the open theater of Anogeia will host a theatrical performance by students from Shaanxi Normal University titled “The Great Confucianist Zhang Zai.” Admission is free.
