The 2nd Summer School in Experimental and Behavioral Economics, organized by the Department of Economics of the University of Crete (Rethymno, Greece), was successfully completed from July 7 to July 11, 2025.

This year’s event attracted significant international interest, with 71 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers participating from leading universities across Europe, America, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

Participants had the opportunity to attend lectures given by distinguished and internationally renowned scholars in their field:

John Duffy (University of California, Irvine)

Simon Gächter (University of Nottingham)

Nikos Georgantzis (School of Wine and Spirits Business, BSB Dijon)

Charles Holt (University of Virginia)

Ariel Rubinstein (Tel Aviv University & NYU)

Roberto A. Weber (University of Zurich)

In addition to the lectures, participants presented their research in Poster Sessions. A key innovation of this year’s edition was the “Bring Your Experiment” sessions, where students had the opportunity to present their experimental designs and receive direct feedback and mentoring from experienced lab instructors:

  • Jose Vicente Guinot Saporta (University of Nottingham)
  • Antonis Proestakis (Technical University of Crete)
  • with the support of Dimitris Georgantzis-Garcia (University of Sheffield)

These sessions focused on practical aspects of implementing experiments, including design protocols and software tools, and included pilot runs in small groups, with the participation of the invited faculty. This innovative element greatly enhanced the hands-on dimension of the training and created a dynamic environment for advancing experimental research.

The Summer School was supported by the University of Crete, with funding from the Region of Crete, the Bank of Greece, and the Open Access Journal Games.
