Today we celebrate International Women’s Day — a day to recognize the strength, creativity, resilience, and achievements of women around the world.

At the University of Crete, we are proud of the vibrant community of women who study, research, teach, lead, and inspire every day. As Manolis Anagnostakis says “Woman is the light that makes life bright” («Η γυναίκα είναι το φως που κάνει τη ζωή να λάμπει»). From lecture halls and laboratories to offices and student spaces, women shape the life and spirit of our university in countless ways.

The Welcome Office is especially grateful for the incredible women of our international community who bring diverse perspectives, cultures, and ideas to Crete. Your presence makes our campus richer, stronger, and more connected to the world.

International Women’s Day is not only a celebration — it is also a reminder to keep building a university where equality, respect, and opportunity are a reality for everyone. Together, we continue to create a space where every woman can grow, thrive, and shine.
