The Rector of the University of Crete, Professor Georgios M. Kontakis, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Development, International Relations, and Outreach, Professor Melina Tamiolaki, held a meeting with the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Fang Qiu.
The meeting took place on January 15, 2025, at the Chinese Embassy in Athens, in a very cordial atmosphere, and lasted one hour.
During the meeting, the actions of the University of Crete in collaboration with Chinese institutions were presented, as well as the activities of the KELKIP. Various topics were also discussed, including:
- new prospects for collaboration with Chinese universities,
- the opportunities for learning the Chinese language at the University of Crete,
- the attraction of Chinese students to the English-taught programs of the University of Crete,
- and the opportunities for University of Crete students to participate in short-term programs, through the Young Envoys Scholarship program, as well as to pursue postgraduate studies in China.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts, sealing the mutual willingness to continue and expand the collaboration.
