University of Crete Participates in NAFSA 2026 in Orlando, Florida

The University of Crete participated in the NAFSA 2026 Annual Conference & Expo, held in Orlando, Florida, USA, from May 26–30, 2026. As the world’s largest international education conference and exhibition, NAFSA brought together thousands of higher education professionals, university leaders and international partners from around the globe to discuss emerging trends, foster collaborations and shape the future of international education.

Marking its third consecutive participation in the event, the University of Crete took part in the conference as a member of the national delegation coordinated by Study in Greece, contributing to the promotion of Greek higher education and the strengthening of international academic cooperation.

The University was represented by Professor Maria Vamvakaki, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Lifelong Learning and Research Policy, and Evgenia Skountaki, Head of the Support Unit for International Students, Researchers and Faculty Members (Welcome Office).

During the conference, the University of Crete held a series of meetings with representatives of higher education institutions, organizations and international networks from around the world. Discussions focused on opportunities for student and staff mobility, the development of joint academic initiatives, research collaboration and the expansion of international partnerships.

Participation in NAFSA 2026 provided an important opportunity to further strengthen the University’s international engagement, enhance its visibility within the global higher education community and explore new avenues for academic cooperation.
