The University of Crete participated once again in the EIB Summer School 2026, organized by the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg from June 27 to July 4, 2026. The program gave University of Crete students the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the work and mission of one of Europe’s leading financial institutions.
The University of Crete was represented by:
- Spyridon Chryssovalantis Zervos, MSc Computer Science and Engineering
- Elisavet-Anna Petsalaki, MSc Neurosciences

The Summer School offered an in-depth look at the EIB’s role in shaping Europe’s future, with a particular focus on finance, sustainability, and innovation. Through interactive lectures, workshops, case studies, and discussions with experts and EIB professionals, participants explored key issues including the energy transition, digital transformation, and sustainable development. They also examined how European investment can be translated into tangible solutions with meaningful social and economic impact.
At the same time, the Summer School provided an important opportunity for international networking and the exchange of ideas, allowing University of Crete students to collaborate and connect with young people from countries across Europe.
The participation of University of Crete students in the EIB Summer School 2026 highlights the international dimension of the student experience at the University and the opportunity for emerging researchers and scientists to engage actively in discussions on some of the most pressing challenges facing Europe today.

“As an aspiring researcher, one of the most valuable aspects of my experience at the EIB Summer School 2026 was gaining a better understanding of how research projects can move from the laboratory into the real world, transforming scientific knowledge into solutions that can make a meaningful impact on society.”

“Beyond the technical content, the sessions included discussions with EIB staff and senior executives, offering valuable insights into how investment decisions are connected to the European Union’s policy priorities.
