The Department of Economics at the University of Crete successfully hosted the 30th International Conference on Macroeconomic Analysis and International Finance, which took place from 27 to 30 May 2026 at the Gallos campus in Rethymno.
Marking its 30th consecutive year, the conference welcomed 207 faculty members from universities across Europe, the United States, and many other countries from around the world, along with researchers and representatives of international economic institutions.
Over four days, the program included 200 presentations covering a wide range of topics, such as macroeconomic theory and policy, European and developing economy macroeconomics, financial and exchange rate crises, monetary policy, economic growth, inflation, labour markets, business cycles, and international finance.
Keynote speeches were delivered by Steven J. Davis (Hoover Institution, Stanford University), Stavros Panageas (UCLA), Mark Spiegel (Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco), and Timothy Taylor (Journal of Economic Perspectives), who shared insights on current economic developments and policy challenges.
The conference provided an opportunity for the presentation of new research and for meaningful exchange among participants, contributing to ongoing academic dialogue in the field.
The conference was held with the support of the University of Crete, the Bank of Greece, Eurobank, and the Cretan Rhizotomists Company.
We thank all speakers and participants for their contribution to the continued success of the conference.
