The University of Crete Medical School warmly invites students and early-career professionals from around the world to discover its Summer Schools in Medicine for 2026.

1. Regenerative Medicine
The University of Crete is pleased to welcome participants to the Summer School in Regenerative Medicine, taking place from 1 to 3 July 2026 in Heraklion. This three‑day program brings together leading scientists, young researchers, and students for an intensive training experience in one of the most rapidly advancing fields of biomedical science.

Designed to combine theoretical foundations, hands‑on laboratory training, and exposure to real‑world clinical and regulatory environments, the Summer School offers a unique opportunity to engage with cutting‑edge developments in stem cell biology, advanced therapies, and translational research.

Participation is free of charge (Participants must cover their own travel / accommodation expenses).

2. hATTR Amyloidosis: From Bench to Bedside

The University of Crete Medical School announces the opening of applications for the Summer School 2026, titled “hATTR Amyloidosis: From Bench to Bedside.” The program will take place from June 9 to June 12, 2026, in Heraklion, offering an intensive and highly specialized educational experience.

Hosted at the Medical School facilities and leading clinical centers, including PAGNI Hospital and Venizeleio Hospital, the summer school is designed to bridge cutting-edge research with clinical practice in the field of hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (hATTR).

3. Management of Drug-Resistant Epilepsy

In collaboration with multiple academic institutions in the United States and in Europe, this hybrid (in-person and via zoom) course will review the management of drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE). It will include principles and cased based scenarios of rational pharmacotherapy with traditional (1st and 2nd generation) and novel (3rd generation) antiseizure medications, non-pharmacological treatments (ketogenic diet) and workshops on various neuromodulation modalities. Empasis will be given to the basic tenets of presurgical evaluation for destructive (resections, ablations) or disconnective (corpus callosotomy, hemispherectomy) surgery, as well as to special populations (pediatric, pregnant women, elderly).

💡Participation fee: 400 euros for participation with physical presence (includes welcome dinner, but does not include travel, accommodation, and an optional excursion with lunch) and 300 euros for participation virtually

4. Mytilene Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology Summer Field School

A University of Crete Fieldschool in Forensic Archaeology & Anthropology on Lesvos Island, Greece.

The Mytilene Project Summer School offers an intensive, hands-on experience in forensic archaeology and anthropology.

Part I (June 22nd – July 11th, 2026) focuses on the excavation and recovery of human remains, providing participants with practical fieldwork training.

Part II (July 13th – July 31st, 2026) centers on the forensic anthropological analysis of the recovered remains, introducing key laboratory methods and interpretive techniques.

Together, the two parts deliver a comprehensive learning experience that bridges field excavation with post-excavation analysis.
