This year, the Department of Materials Science and Technology at the University of Crete, listed on the computer form for candidates in the 2nd Scientific Field, comes with a refreshed identity and a thoroughly modernized undergraduate program. Now renamed the “Department of Materials Science and Engineering,” it aligns fully with international developments in the field.
The updated curriculum introduces innovative courses and labs in cutting-edge areas like materials engineering, nanotechnology, sustainable polymers, and artificial intelligence applications in material sciences. This initiative aims to equip students with a strong scientific foundation and advanced engineering skills relevant to industries like energy, biomedical engineering, and environmental sustainability.
The program’s duration is four years, adhering to international academic standards. Graduates gain specialized knowledge that prepares them for roles in public sector and environmental sciences, fulfilling the requirements of Presidential Decree 45/2009 and 85/2022, ensuring comprehensive professional recognition in environmental specialties.
