On Monday, August 4th, 2025, the University of Crete had the honour of welcoming a student and faculty delegation from Weiyang College, Tsinghua University, as part of their “Qingjin Xitu” 2025 Summer Overseas Practice Program.
The visit was held under the auspices of the Rector of the University of Crete, Professor Georgios Kontakis. It was attended by Professor Maria Vamvakaki, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Lifelong Learning, and Research Policy, and Professor Eleni Tamiolaki, Vice Rector for International Relations, Outreach, and Development.

- Professor Antonis Savvidis – Dean of the School of Sciences and Technology
- Professor Georgios Vasilikogiannakis – Chair, Department of Chemistry
- Professor Dimitris Papazoglou – Chair, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
- Professor Andreas Zezas – Chair, Department of Physics
- Professor Yannis Tzitzikas – Deputy Chair, Department of Computer Science
- Professor Nikolaos Papadakis – Director of the Centre for Political Research and Documentation (KEPET), Department of Political Science
- Professor Emerita Aikaterini Kopaka – Presentation on the cultural and historical heritage of Crete

The delegation, comprising 15 members (including 13 undergraduate students), engaged in thematic discussions on innovation, cultural heritage, the digital economy, and green energy. The visit concluded with a guided tour of the university’s facilities at the Voutes Campus, offering participants a firsthand look at its academic and research environment.
This visit marked a significant step toward strengthening China–Greece academic ties and promoting meaningful youth-led dialogue in the context of global challenges and mutual learning.
